James Hay launches new account

An enhanced special deposit cash account has been launched by James Hay for its eSIPP.

The account, which pays 6.9 per cent, has a minimum balance of £10,000 and is available to investors who have money at the Investment Centre of James Hay's eSIPP (Self Invested Personal Pension).

Research by the SIPP provider suggests a rise in importance of cash, with a ten per cent increase in cash holdings in SIPP portfolios in the last three months.

This is attributed to market uncertainty.

James Hay claims that with the average SIPP estimated at £46,500, as many as 300,000 investors could be missing out on up to £1,930 a year if they are on the lowest rate.

James Hay SIPP is backed by Santander and part of the James Hay group of companies owned by Abbey National plc.

Philippine Condo Hotel Investments is encouraging people considering using SIPPS to invest in real estate to place the money with its property.

It claims the Philippines are an ideal place for such investment because the country legally recognises trusts such as SIPPs.
