Cheshire launches three new bonds

Three new tiered fixed rate bonds have been launched by the Cheshire Building Society.

Customers are offered one, two or three-year options, all with deposits from £1,000 to £2,000,000.

The 12-month bond has a 6.75 per cent gross/AER for investments of £25,000 and over, or 6.5 per cent for deposits of £1,00 to £24,999.

In the two-year deal, investments of £1,000 to £4,999 gather 6.7 per cent AER, 6.75 per cent for £5,000 to £24,999 and seven per cent for £25,000 and over.

The three-year bond offers 6.75 per cent gross/AER for £25,000 and over and 6.5 per cent for anything less.

David Gibson, senior marketing manager for Cheshire Building Society, said the new bonds give "a guaranteed return".

Convertible bonds - fixed-income securities that can be converted into shares - fell sharply this week, the Financial Times reported.

This was especially the case for auto companies and financial firms.
