UK parents give their children £4,300 a year for university – but most of it goes on social expenses, according to a survey reported in the Daily Mail.
The study of 6,000 students and parents by Principality Building Society found that parents shell out nearly £475 a month for the costs of university life, but students spend almost £400 a month on clothes, alcohol and socialising.
