Woolwich fixed rates cut

New rates include three and five-year fixed-rates of 5.97 per cent, as well as a ten-year fixed-rate of 5.87 per cent.
The latter is a decrease of 0.07 per cent.
All the new rates are at a maximum of 60 per cent loan to value.
There is also a new two-year fixed-rate deal at 5.99 per cent for loans of up to 60 per cent loan to value.
David Finlay, mortgage intermediary business director at Woolwich, said there was "strong competition in the market" which brought "a good result for customers".
Independent mortgage expert firm John Charcol has advised people to buy tracker mortgage products.
Drew Wotherspoon of Charcol.co.uk said that trackers are now priced at around 0.3 per cent better than their fixed-rate counterparts.
"Yet with at least one per cent predicted to disappear from (the) bank rate, this gap will widen significantly over the coming months."
