Legal & General life insurance costs "overestimated"

A recent poll by Legal & General life insurance experts and YouGov has revealed that the majority of adults in the UK believe life cover costs more than it actually does.

The study found that 65 per cent of those asked "overestimated" how much they would have to pay for a policy worth £150,000.

In addition, it was also discovered that only 38 per cent of people possess life insurance.

Legal & General's commercial director for housing Karen Blatchford commented: "Life cover can start from as little as £6 per month, which even families on a very tight budget may be able to afford."

She added that her company is "concerned" that so many people do not realise the true cost of life insurance, suggesting that this may be putting off the 62 per cent of the population who are not covered by a policy.

The report follows Defaqto's announcement last week that less people are taking out income protection insurance year on year.ADNFCR-323-ID-18750366-ADNFCR
