Alliance & Leicester reduces mortgage range prices

The prices of the mortgage range offered by Alliance & Leicester have been reduced by between 0.10 per cent and 0.55 per cent, with new offers available from today (August 27th).

According to the lender, the prices are reduced from its previous portfolio and the new rates are available from brokers, by telephone and at the bank's branches.

Richard Taylor, head of mortgage products at Alliance & Leicester, said that reduced rates provide an opportunity for more customers to get a better deal.

"These new mortgage products are available to both new and existing customers, with a number of options to choose from, including deals which benefit from no fees, as well as free valuation and legal fees," he said.

Currently, Alliance & Leicester's two-year fixed-rate mortgage product stands at 5.99 per cent - previously 6.14 per cent.

Meanwhile, research published by Abbey this month indicated that some 12 per cent of mortgage holders are set to make an overpayment on their mortgage within the next half-year.
