In a report which revealed that 27 per cent of British adults are now less likely to leave their partners due to the credit crunch, Cahoot and UK bank Abbey claimed that singles can end up spending significantly more during their lifetime than those in relationships.
Matthew Timms, Cahoot's managing director, remarked: "There are clearly economic benefits to being in a relationship, such as shared bills, lower rent and even reduced car insurance premiums."
The study estimated that being single can cost £266,000 more over the course of a lifetime than being in a couple.
Those who are not in a relationship may be interested to hear of advice from Moneyfacts, which suggested today that practising saving cash as early as possible can bode well for greater financial prosperity in the future.
