Consumer confidence returning, says YBS

Britons are starting to show more confidence in the UK's property market, Yorkshire Building Society has stated.

The institution has stated that mortgage rates are now less than six per cent and that applications for deals have doubled since it brought in a 0.55 per cent reduction.

According to the building society's mortgage product manager Tom Girling, the company is pleased that there has been an increase in people looking to take out mortgages.

"Now that there is clear water between typical SVRs of over seven per cent and the best two-year fixes it has focused borrowers' attention on getting their monthly costs down," said the official.

Meanwhile, Nationwide's chief economist Fionnuala Earley has stated that house prices in Britain will continue to fall as the year goes on, the Press Association has reported.ADNFCR-323-ID-18753673-ADNFCR
