Abbey launches fixed-rate saver

A new fixed-rate savings account has been launched by Abbey.

It is claimed that it will "reward loyalty" with a "competitive" interest rate and a bonus at the end of each one-year fixed-rate period.

Savers can also access their money without charge or notice at any time.

The account, which offers a guaranteed five per cent plus the 1.5 per cent bonus, also has a Super version available, with an enhanced bonus rate of 3.5 per cent gross when a qualifying investment is made of equal or greater value.

Reza Attar-Zadeh, director of savings and investments at Abbey, said the account allowed the "security" of a fixed-rate account with the option of unpenalised access.

Meanwhile, Marks & Spencer is offering 25 per cent cashback on personal loans.

The offer is available on all personal loans taken out over a term of 36 months or more.

Customers can get a refund of 25 per cent of the interest they have paid after the final repayment is complete.
