Alliance & Leicester launches Indigo Travelcard

The Indigo Travelcard, issued under the trademark Honeycomb by Alliance & Leicester, offers "market leading" exchange rates for conversion into euros and dollars.
It operates the same way as a Visa debit card, allowing travellers to access their money through ATMs and transactions wherever Visa is accepted.
The cards are pre-paid, not credit cards and not linked to any bank account.
James Le Brocq, director of prepaid cards at Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank, said such cards were suitable for people who want to keep "close control of their finances".
Claire Bayliss, managing director of Indigosolutions, said that since the company is "not a huge corporate we are very quick in terms of speed to market".
The Indigo Travelcard has no purchase fee and delivery is free.
Once a customer has signed up for a card, two more can be requested for partners, teenagers or business colleagues.
Funds can be transferred to the new cards online or by text message.
