Natwest Private Banking and Cass Business School: More people setting up own businesses

A wide range of businesses are being set up, it has been claimed.

Simon Hopes, head of regional operations at Natwest Private Banking and Professor Scott Moeller of the Cass Business School made the statement.

Mr Hopes said that a lot of people are "increasingly looking for special avenues for their own skills".

He said the wide use of IT and related skills make it easier for people to set up on their own.

Prof Moeller even said that he believes the nation is getting richer in the sense that "there is really a lot more diversity in terms of what is being offered".

For example, there are unique types of organic baby food available, he said.

Research by Natwest and the Cass Business School has shown that there is a growing group of people challenging the concept of affluence.

It identified a new demographic category, "Enriched", meaning a younger, increasingly female group, which rates personal and career fulfillment as highly as conventional financial success.
