In-flight mobile costs 'will be expensive'

The cost of making a mobile phone call while flying will be high, an expert has warned.
Laurence Price, director of aviation strategy at management and engineering consultancy Mott MacDonald, said he believes some airlines will charge premium rates for mobile phone use.
He said this could be a way of clawing back money that is lost by not imposing fuel surcharges.
High phone rates could be a means of earning revenue for an airline such as Ryanair, he said.
"Given that a third of the revenue is earned from non-ticket price, they are very keen to maximise that," he explained.
Premium rates on Ryanair from mobile phone service provider O2 would cost between £1.65 and £1.99 for making or receiving a call.
Texts would cost 40p.
Mott Macdonald comprises a $1.5 billion (£0.9 billion) business in 120 countries with 14,000 staff employed.
Its remit includes education, health, energy, buildings and transport and covers both the public and private sectors.
