New Abbey bonds issued

New Abbey bonds have been launched in several categories.
Customers have access to a new fixed-rate bond, a 50+ bond and a children's savings bond.
The fixed-rate bond offers varying interest rates depending on the duration of the term and whether it is paid annually or monthly.
The gross rate per year ranges from 5.10 per cent to six per cent, while the bond is available for deposits on a minimum of £1.
Monthly, the gross rate per annum ranges from 4.98 per cent to 5.84 per cent.
People over 50 can benefit from the 50+ bond, which has a fixed term of three years and a gross rate per annum of 5.15 per cent.
The children's bond, for four years, has a gross rate per annum of 6.2 per cent.
Yesterday, Abbey calculated that a budget trip to South Africa to see the World Cup would cost £3,372.76.
If savers used its eSaver Direct account to squirrel away cash for the journey, they would need to save £169.76 a month from now.
