People 'going green to save money'

Energy-saving measures are becoming increasingly popular as the costs of gas and electricity rise, according to new research.
A survey by Norwich and Peterborough Building Society found that 69 per cent of people say they are more likely to install energy-efficient devices in their homes compared to a year ago.
Asked whether they would include features such as solar panels, wind turbines or ground source heat pumps if they were to have a home built to their wishes, 87 per cent said yes.
This is a six per cent increase on last year.
Of those who said no, the most popular reason, given by 40 per cent of respondents, was because they did not believe they knew enough about the technology.
In September, the building society held its annual Eco Self-Build competition in which homeowners competed for a £5,000 cash prize by having environmentally friendly homes.
Last year's winners were Jackie Strube and Alan Stone, a couple from Brighton.
