The insurance provider said that second hand cars are less expensive to cover, as replacement costs are lower due to depreciation.
Smart, Citroen C1, Fiat Seicento and Renault Clio are in the list, as are Skoda Fabia, Suzuki Wagon R and Toyota Aygo.
There is also Volkswagen Fox Urban, Nissan Micra and Peugeot 107.
Using the hypothetical case of a 32-year-old Birmingham man with one speeding conviction, swiftcover.com found that the Smart Pure was the cheapest model to insure.
Its own quote for such a policy was £350.84.
In September, the AA reported that Britons are considering car sharing as a means to beat the increasing costs of motoring.
According to its study, 51 per cent of people said they were more likely to car share due to petrol costs, although only 11 per cent were found to do it once a week or more.
