Tesco Car Warranty says bad habits drive repair bills

Tesco Car Warranty has suggested that bad habits among the UK's drivers could be costing them dearly in repair bills.

The supermarket finance company recently conducted research with found that almost four out of five car owners do not keep up to date with maintenance.

Furthermore, 14 per cent said that they often drive in the wrong gear, while one in three younger drivers 'ride' the clutch - a habit which could lead to a costly replacement being needed further down the line.

Allan Burns, head of insurance at Tesco Personal Finance, observed that while many drivers hold their hands up to their traits, few are aware of the damage they are doing to their vehicles and their wallets.

"In the current economic climate, it's more important than ever for drivers to manage their motoring costs to ward off any unexpected bills," he said.

Last month, Tesco car insurance was offered to drivers at a discounted price of 12 months for ten - or 12 for nine for Clubcard holders.
