Halifax Credit Cards: Christmas present prices are falling

Halifax has published the results of a survey which reveals that the high street price of many items has fallen recently, which could make Christmas shopping cheaper.

The bank said that the price of many of the most popular items people give as presents had fallen.

According to the survey, the cost of clothing has dropped by six per cent on average, the cost of toys and games by five per cent and the cost of CDs by three per cent.

Alan Brindley, the head of Halifax Credit Cards, said: "A number of Christmas favourites have fallen - welcome Christmas cheer for festive shoppers.

"However […] times remain tough and the importance of setting aside a budget and sticking to it is paramount."

A recent survey by HSBC revealed that over half of people in the UK are not planning to cut down the amount they spend on Christmas compared with last year.
