TUC offers new advice to workers facing redundancy

The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has announced the publication of a new help pack containing advice for workers facing redundancy.

According to the TUC's statistics, as the recession bites the number of UK workers without jobs is set to exceed two million next year and could possibly rise as high as three million.

This means that up to 1,500 people per week could be losing their jobs and TUC general secretary Brendan Barber said many of them could be facing unemployment for the first time in their lives.

Mr Barber added: "These guides make union advice on redundancy available to all and we are delighted to have produced a wider guide with Citizens Advice on dealing with the downturn."

Recently a survey by LV= revealed that nearly one-third of UK workers would not have enough money saved to live comfortably if they were out of work for longer than two months.
