Women 'more open about feeling financial strain'

A survey published today has shown that women are more open about discussing the financial stresses and strains they suffer because of the credit crunch than men.

The poll, conducted by CreditExpert.co.uk, shows that 56 per cent of women have said the credit crunch makes them more likely to discuss their personal finances with friends, compared to just 49 per cent of men.

Nearly a third of the female respondents said they liked getting their worries out in the open, compared to under one-fifth of men.

Women are also apparently more keen to chat about how they have cut back their spending, with 43 per cent telling their friends about the savings they have made, compared to just 30 per cent of men.

Darryl Bowman, director of CreditExpert.co.uk, said the trend amongst women is positive.

He explained: "As we open up about our finances, the easier it becomes to address issues."

Recent, research by MoneyExpert.com revealed that the credit crunch had also caused more people to seek advice and help from professional debt counsellors.
