The Children's Mutual offers 'ray of hope'

The Children's Mutual is claiming to offer parents who are struggling to meet the cost of bringing up young children "a ray of hope".

According to David White, chief executive of the group, the child trust fund is set to revolutionise family saving.

He said that a number of adults in the UK are already benefiting from contributions from grandparents and wider family to help save for their children's futures.

And he expects this trend to continue as more people turn to this method of saving to help raise funds for their offspring.

"The Child Trust Fund was introduced to give every child a financial asset when they reached 18 and it is already changing the nation's savings habits," Mr White insisted.

He added that this method of saving would help to reassure parents and prevent them from having to dip into their own life savings to help out their children.

According to insurance firm LV, an increasing number of adults are ditching their own life insurance and income protection policies to help cope with the costs of childcare and education.
