Which? criticises car insurance websites

The consumer magazine's researchers found that some car insurance price comparison sites did not return quotes with the excess that they had stipulated.
Furthermore, Which? magazine found that some websites, including Gocompare.com, altered the desired excess amount its researchers had entered in order to return a cheaper quote.
Jess Ross, editor of Which?, said: "Don't be fooled into thinking that online comparison sites are a one-stop shop - customers need to search around different sites and keep their wits about them."
She added that the magazine's investigation found that the way some sites displayed excess charges "means it's difficult for people to make informed decisions".
Recently, a BBC Panorama investigation criticised some price comparison websites for the practice of charging insurers commission for passing on business, which it claimed might bias the information they displayed to customers.
