Confused.com: Brits paying too much for home insurance

Confused.com has conducted research which reveals that many Brits may be paying "over the odds" for their home insurance.

The price comparison website conducted a survey which showed that nearly one-third of people in the UK believe that the rebuild cost of their house is the same or more than its market value.

Confused.com claimed that these people may find themselves being charged too much for buildings cover.

Darren Black, head of home insurance at Confused.com, said: "The fact that one in three consumers considers the rebuild cost to be the same as the market value is unsurprising as it's difficult to calculate, but it could see them paying over the odds, year-on-year."

Recently, Halifax Home Insurance issued a warning to homeowners to ensure that their houses are suitably weatherproofed, as a typical claim for storm damage costs around £1,000.
