Lloyds TSB: Fixed-rate ISA launched

Lloyds TSB has announced the launch of a new fixed-rate individual savings account (ISA).

The new offering will pay interest at a rate of up to 3.2 per cent for at least 12 months and requires a minimum balance of £3,000 to open.

Interest rates on the account will differ depending on the amount deposited, with only those keeping more than £30,000 in the ISA benefitting from the top rate.

Janet Pope, savings and investments director at Lloyds TSB, said that with interest rates currently low, it is more important than ever for savers to take advantage of tax-free ISA savings.

She added: "In this unpredictable rate climate, savers are moving towards fixed-rate products. The security of knowing exactly how much you will earn on your savings is invaluable in today's uncertain environment."

Recently, the Bank of England cut interest rates to one per cent.
