Fairinvestment.co.uk recommends 'Fairtrade finances'

Price comparison website Fairinvestment.co.uk has claimed that people can support Fairtrade and other good causes through choosing the right financial services provider.

Research conducted by the website revealed that the credit crunch has caused a 22 per cent fall in the amount Brits donate to charities.

However, Fairinvestment.co.uk said that by choosing financial services providers with a strong ethical element to their business, such as the Co-operative Bank, Brits may be able to keep helping worthy causes like Fairtrade.

James Caldwell, the director of the website, said: "Using companies that support things like Fairtrade […] could be a way for those who have had to cut back on donations to continue to make a difference at little extra cost to themselves."

Recently, the Co-operative Bank announced that one of its charity credit cards had taken the top prize in the charity card category at the Card Awards.
