Direct Line home insurance offer

A new home insurance offer from Direct Line will provide 12 month's cover for the price of ten.

From the beginning of March to the end of April, all new Direct Line customers will be able to take advantage of the home insurance deal.

The insurer said that the offer will help make the remainder of the year more bearable for people who have had a difficult start to 2009.

A survey by the company found that January is the least favourite month for 68 per cent of homeowners, followed by February in 52 per cent of cases.

"Everyone has different reasons for disliking certain times of the year but our research shows most people would prefer to take January and February off the calendar," said Andrew Lowe, head of Direct Line Home Insurance.

Direct Line recently claimed that £22 billion worth of clothes, shoes and households goods are stored in British women's homes - only to be used on special occasions.
