Yorkshire Building Society tax-free ISAs becoming more popular

Yorkshire Building Society has claimed that its tax-free savings account offerings, which include several individual savings accounts (ISAs), are becoming more popular.

Sarah Lawrence, savings development manager at the society, said: "Savers are […] becoming increasingly savvy and we are noticing an increase in the popularity of our tax-free savings accounts."

Ms Lawrence said that the growth in popularity could be attributed to the fact that people are looking to put cash away "for a rainy day" in the current economic climate.

According to Yorkshire Building Society, the busiest time of the year for opening new ISAs is usually the first few days of the new tax year in April, but the society claimed that around 1,000 such accounts are currently being opened every week.

Yorkshire Building Society has 143 branches and 1.9 million members across the UK.
