Abbey announces Santander fixed-rate bonds

Britons who have come to realise the importance of having savings in their account as a result of the economic downturn may wish to take advantage of the latest products on offer by Santander.

Customers who deposit funds with Alliance and Leicester, Abbey or Bradford and Bingley are to be offered a new two-year fixed-rate bond with an AER ranging between 2.99 and 3.15 per cent.

The banks have also announced the launch of a new one-year fixed-rate bond, which pays up to a three per cent gross AER.

Customers should be aware, however, that the products are only on offer between now and the start of May, so those wishing to secure such rates have a limited period of time to do so.

Meanwhile, Britons who are concerned about their expenditure during the continuing credit crunch could make savings of around £1,746 a year by adopting savvier spending practices, Santander recently revealed.
