Abbey Isa advice for savers

With the new tax year finally here, Abbey Savings has issued advice to credit-crunched Brits to make the most out of their money.

It has therefore urged people with savings to set up an Individual Savings Account (Isa), saying they stand to benefit from its tax-free nature.

Director of savings and investments at the bank Reza Attar-Zadeh explained: "A cash Isa is a great way to make sure the taxman doesn't get his hands on the interest you get on your hard-earned money."

She added that the sooner an Isa is funded, the better because greater returns stand to be made on money saved.

This comes after the bank recently urged savers to be savvy with their funds, pointing out that people often find themselves paying too much tax.

People should therefore familiarise themselves with the rules and regulations surrounding tax, it claimed, to make sure they do not get bamboozled.
