Moneyfacts.co.uk announces award finalists
Fri 24th Apr 2009
Financial information site Moneyfacts.co.uk has announced the finalists for its annual awards.
Abbey, Alliance & Leicester and Halifax are all competing against each other in the two categories for the best current accounts, while credit cards from NatWest and Barclaycard have made the shortlist for the best credit card awards.
The prize for the best overall personal finance provider of the year is a six horse race between Abbey, Barclays, Halifax, Nationwide, HSBC and the Co-operative Bank.
A spokesman for Moneyfacts.co.uk said: "We welcome the opportunity to reward those still active in the sector and we wish all the very best of luck to our finalists.
"Their very inclusion highlights a commitment to excellence that will serve them well during the next year."
Of the overall finalists, only one - Halifax - is part of a larger banking group that has been bailed out by the UK government in the past six months.
