Brits haggle for bargains, says survey

A new survey has revealed that many people in the UK are now prepared to haggle for the best bargains when they go shopping.

The poll, conducted by uSwitch.com, found that 64 per cent of people in the UK are now prepared to bargain when buying certain goods. Furthermore, nine per cent will have a go at haggling when they buy anything these days.

Only 12 per cent of the people surveyed said they would be too embarrassed to try and bargain down the price of an item.

Louise Bond, personal finance manager at uSwitch.com, said: "Shoppers across the nation are casting off their inhibitions and haggling for knock-down prices, cashing in on retailers desperation to secure a sale."

Recently, Sainsbury's Home Insurance conducted a survey which revealed that increasing numbers of people in the UK are doing DIY rather than paying for professionals to fix things around the home.
