Women 'look to expand property portfolios'

A poll conducted by the National Landlords Association (NLA) has revealed that many women in the UK are planning to expand their property portfolios in the next 12 months, despite the continued fall in house prices.

The survey showed that 62 per cent of women landlords are planning on purchasing more property and 32 per cent claimed that the credit crunch had not impacted on their plans at all.

Furthermore, 87 per cent of the women surveyed believed that having their money tied up in bricks and mortar would bring better returns than stashing it away in a bank.

Melissa Porter, a consultant and self-confessed property addict, said: "Amidst the adversity in the market place, it's both empowering and reassuring to be involved with a team of people who are creating opportunities and taking control."

The NLA grew out of the Small Landlords Association, which was initially founded in 1973.
