Moneynet.co.uk picks 'best' savings account offerings

Moneynet.co.uk has published a list of what its team considers to be the best savings accounts currently on offer in the UK.

The price comparison website claims that the best regular savings account is the Barclays Monthly Saver, which currently pays interest at a rate of six per cent.

For individual savings accounts (ISAs), Moneynet.co.uk also recommends going to Barclays, as their Golden ISA currently offers the best interest rate in the tax-free savings account class, with 3.61 per cent.

West Bromwich Building Society currently provides the best option for fixed-rate savers, according to the website, with an e-bond that offers a rate of 4.3 per cent.

Moneynet.co.uk said: "In the current uncertain financial climate, it may be a better approach to lock in for a shorter term as nobody is quite sure when and how quickly base rate and savings rates will recover."

The base rate of interest is currently 0.5 per cent.
