Brits 'put off travelling this bank holiday' finds esure Car Insurance

Brits are largely reluctant to travel this bank holiday season due to stresses related to delays, traffic jams and having less money than previous years.

These are the findings of a poll conducted by esure Car Insurance, which found that one in eight respondents said they are unenthusiastic about travelling due to delays on the roads.

It also discovered that one in seven revealed they are staying at home during the final May bank holiday due to the recession making life financially harder this year.

Head of risk and underwriting at esure Mike Pickard stated that for those who are travelling in the UK this weekend, "planning ahead and travelling off-peak" are great ways to avoid motorway queues.

He added: "Doing a thorough vehicle check before setting off is also advisable to try to prevent a breakdown and stocking up on water, snacks and a map is a must in case there are unavoidable delays."

Launched in 2001, esure offers a range of insurance policies, including those covering cars, pets, home and travelling.
