Personal finance expert with the comparison and switching service Louise Bond stated that the credit card is especially good for consumers as the number of cards offering introductory offers has waned in the last year.
She added: "We hope that this move heralds a new wave of competitive zero per cent deals being launched as other providers follow its lead."
The Tesco Clubcard Credit Card is currently offering customers who apply online an interest-free period of one year, rather than six months.
Tesco offered a further lifeline to consumers recently by announcing that until May 27th, they can take advantage of a 45 per cent discount on its Tesco Value and Tesco's Finest home insurance policies if they purchase them online.
