'Responsible lender of the year' goes to HSBC

High street bank HSBC has been chosen as the recipient of the Responsible Lender of the Year Award by commercial and consumer magazine Credit Today, it has emerged.

Aiming to recognise lenders with the most commendable credentials, the awards singled-out HSBC for its conscientious attitude towards lending.

Group general manager of personal finance for HSBC UK Joe Garner said that the bank is "proud to have been recognised" for its approach and is "pleased to have won this prestigious award".

He continued: "To us, responsible lending is about knowing your customers so we make informed lending decisions and ensure that we provide support if things do go wrong."

Last week, HSBC reintroduced its Rate Catcher Mortgage on to the UK lending market, which pledges to offer customers a fixed deal for up to five years.
