Fuel poverty needs nipping in the bud, says uSwitch.com

The energy industry, the government and regulators need to come together to tackle fuel poverty, especially in the current economic climate.

This is the opinion of energy expert for uSwitch.com Tom Lyon, who believes that some "joined-up thinking" needs to be adopted in order to alleviate the pressure people are feeling from fuel poverty.

Mr Lyon stated that this is a time-sensitive issue as energy firms may be set to raise their prices higher and further strain the purses of Brits.

He explained that additionally, "we would like to see the Winter Fuel Payment targeted from this winter onwards, so that this money only goes to those who need it".

According to uSwitch.com's Ann Robinson, who was speaking last winter, fuel poverty is now a reality for a large number of Brits, who face a "real threat to their standard of living" due to it.
