Glastogoers told: Don't leave valuables in your car

Those driving to summer festivals this year, such as Glastonbury, have been warned that many car insurance providers only insure valuables stolen from vehicles up to the sum of £100.

For those carrying tents, sleeping bags, CDs, clothes and electronic valuables in their vehicles as they head to events this year, £100 would not even begin to cover their belongings if they were stolen, uSwitch.com points out.

Research compiled by the group shows that those attending festivals this year collectively have around £8 million of goods in their vehicles - including satellite navigation devices, mp3 players, sunglasses and mobile phones.

"Our advice to motorists is to check all policy details before getting in the car, that way you can enjoy the music with peace of mind," said Mark Monteiro, a uSwitch.com insurance expert.

Glastonbury festival takes place between Wednesday 24th and Sunday 28th June this year.
