Sheila's Wheels: Check your insurance before you drive abroad

This is the advice of Sheila's Wheels, whose recent research has found that 2.8 million motorists do not know the speed limits on foreign roads.
A further 15 per cent wrongly assume that their insurance applies in all of the same ways while abroad.
Therefore, the insurer is urging those who are planning to get behind the wheel abroad this summer to do a little research into their destinations' road regulations and check their policies before setting off.
"Being fully prepared by planning their journeys, carrying the essential equipment and giving their car a maintenance check before setting off is also a must," commented Jacky Brown, a spokesperson for the firm.
