Womens' knowledge of car maintenance 'lacking'

When asked how to check their vehicles' oil levels as part of a poll conducted by Churchill Car Insurance, 44 per cent of women, compared to 21 per cent of men, did not know.
A further 72 per cent of females did not know how to check the brake fluid levels, while this figure stood at a lower 35 per cent for men.
"Having basic car maintenance knowledge can not only help prevent car breakdown situations, but can keep motorists, especially women, feeling more confident on the roads," said Churchill Car Insurance spokeswoman Claire Foster.
Meanwhile, checking oil levels in a vehicle is essential to its regular upkeep, specialist insurer Rias highlighted recently, as a poll conducted by the firm revealed that 50 per cent of motorists fail to do this often enough.
