Text balance updates offered by Lloyds TSB

Customers of Lloyds TSB can now take the chance to check the balance of their bank account while on the move, as the bank has introduced a new text messages by demand service.

Lloyds TSB's Balance on Demand initiative marks the first time a British bank has ever offered such an option, as customers will be allowed to demand up-to-date text message balances.

The bank's mobile phone services are some of the most extensive among UK banks, allowing people to safely transfer money, check their last six transactions and access high and low balance alerts via their handsets.

Managing director for consumer banking with the firm Peter Jackson said the service makes it "as easy as possible for customers to view their balance, keep on top of their finances day to day and transfer money when they need to."

Lloyds TSB's online banking facility allows customers to download statements, view their transactions to as far back as 2002, check their account balances and pay bills.
