According to the group, factors such as low prices and the recession are making people less discerning about where and when they go on holiday, not to mention which type of holiday they go for.
Research from the group found that men are the most likely to consider and book a goliday within 24 hours, while women are more likely to think about their options for longer.
However, holidaymakers must be careful to check that all aspects of the trip are ideal for them, including the level of insurance included, says AA Travel Insurance's chief executive Christian Young.
"It is important that they make sure they understand the cover they are buying and ensure they get the best option in terms of both cover and cost," he added.
This week, consumer group Which? revealed that despite an EU ruling to the contrary, some carriers are still adding insurance automatically to the price of airline tickets.
