Re-introduction of the Coventry 50-plus eSave account launched

The Coventry Building Society has announced that it is bringing back its 50-plus eSave account, so consumers hoping to put some pennies aside in the recession can take advantage of the offer.

Offering a best buy AER rate of 3.2 per cent for a fixed-term of 12 months beginning on the day of opening, the account also includes penalty-free unlimited access throughout its duration.

The only limitation on the financial product is that it is operated and controlled entirely through the internet and requires a minimum deposit of £1.

"In a low interest rate environment customers can now have the best of both worlds - a very competitive rate and the peace of mind of having easy access to their money," explained Rachel Haworth, head of marketing at the Coventry.

Set up in 1884, the Coventry is now the UK's fourth-largest building society and caters for more than one million customers. It adopted its current name after a merger with the Coventry Provident in 1983.
