Snap up new Barnsley Building Society 5-year fixed-rate online bond

The new Barnsley Building Society five-year fixed-rate online bond is being offered to saving-savvy consumers who are determined to put away some funds for the future.

Available wholly online, the account allows savers to deposit funds electronically by using their debit or credit cards and therefore earn interest at a faster rate than deposits made through a traditional cheque.

The bonds are also available for terms of two and three years.

"We offer a wide range of savings vehicles at the Barnsley including instant access accounts and products for those savers who are looking for higher returns who can lock their money away for longer," said senior savings product manager for the building society Sarah Lawrence.

Despite merging with the Yorkshire Building Society in 2008, Barnsley retained its original branding and remains the UK's third-largest building society.
