The bank is offering academics an interest-free overdraft of up to £2,000 for the duration of their studies, as well as a further £1,000 with an interest rate of 8.9 per cent EAR.
It also allows them a contactless-enabled VISA debit card, which allows them to conveniently tap their card on a hub to pay for items of £10 or less at participating stores.
Insurance is also included for students with standard cover for appliances such as TVs, sound systems, PC damage and college-owned items.
"We recognise the financial challenges students have and that's why we have looked to provide them with a relevant package to support them through university life," commented Andrew Harris, head of current accounts at Barclays.
