Brits 'losing millions annually' due to lack of travel insurance

Holidaymaking Brits are losing millions of pounds every year as they fail to take out sufficient travel insurance before going abroad.

This is according to figures from travel firm On The Beach, which show that millions of pounds are collectively lost by Brits as they experience problems abroad every year that are not covered by their insurance policies.

Marketing director for with the company Alistair Daly explains that the recession appears to be making people rein in their everyday spending, with travel insurance not being exempt from this.

"Every year, Britons lose millions of pounds in unforeseen medical and hospital costs whilst abroad. This is due to not having comprehensive travel insurance cover," he stated.

According to research conducted by Post Office Travel Insurance, 23 per cent of Brits planning to go on holiday this year are considering not taking out travel insurance beforehand in a bid to save money on their trips.
