Taller men 'earn more money'

New research has identified a correlation between a man's height and the size of his bank balance.

According to the study, which was undertaken by the Australian National University, even a few extra inches could see a man earn hundreds of pounds more than his shorter counterparts on an annual basis.

"The average man in our sample is five foot ten inches tall. Our estimates suggest that if he was six foot tall he would earn another 1.5 per cent, or around AU$950 (£470), per year," explained professor Andrew Leigh, who led the study.

Other discoveries made by the research include that portlier males do not earn less than their slimmer colleagues, as was found in the past, as being overweight is no longer unusual.

Some examples of tall people with an enviable wealth include Monty Python funnyman John Cleese, footballer Peter Crouch and American actor Vince Vaughan.
