Sheila's Wheels pest cover urged during 'wasp week'

Sheila's Wheels' pest cover may be just what some people need during the final week of July - when wasps are at their most prevalent in the UK.

The firm is urging Brits to remain vigilant against the stripy creatures, as a recent survey conducted by ICM Research shows that 33 per cent of respondents said they would tackle a nest themselves if they found one on their property.

However, the firm, points out, doing this could only cause problems and injuries without the right equipment, so taking out cover against this possibility could be the key.

"With some nests housing colonies of hundreds of stinging insects, DIY nest removal should never be attempted by the untrained," explained Jacky Brown, a spokeswoman for Sheila's Wheels home insurance.

Unlike bees, wasps can sting a human several times and their venom contains a chemical that can be detected by other wasps, calling upon them to also attack the victim.
