Leeds Building Society announces Albion Saver account

Leeds Building Society has unveiled its new branch-based Albion Saver account, which it claims is a straightforward account with an excellent return.

The account offers 1.6 per cent interest for the minimum investment of £2,500, which goes up in stages dependent on the size of the balance until it reaches the top rate of 2.5 per cent for capital of £100,000 or more.

Customers are also allowed unlimited access to funds without any charges imposed.

Kim Rebecchi, director of sales and marketing at the organisation, claimed the account was launched because the building society felt that many people liked having a passbook and access to branch facilities as opposed to more modern internet accounts.

She said: "It offers an excellent return, is straightforward with no catches or a requirement to open another account with the society and investors simply cannot lose."

Recently the bank launched a three-year fixed rate bond offering a return of 4.3 per cent, however only ten per cent of the capital can be withdrawn.
