Sainsbury's Home Insurance advises over wardrobe worth

Sainsbury's Home Insurance has told customers to check their wardrobes to make sure they know how much its contents are worth in the event of them having to make a claim.

Ben Tyte, business manager at the organisation, pointed out that people might forget that their tennis racket or cricket bat might also be kept in there and can be worth a lot of money.

He noted that as well as sports equipment, policyholders sometimes might keep shoes and bags in their wardrobe and that these would need to be covered by their policy.

Mr Tyte told customers to "think about the items that would go in the wardrobe that they might not necessarily think would be covered under insurance".

His comments were made following the release of a study by Hiscox which indicated that 69 per cent of people in the UK do not know how much the contents of their wardrobes are worth.

While this is not necessarily a bad thing, it can lead to them being underinsured.
