Sainsbury's Home Insurance recommends ABI tool

The organisation pointed out that many insurance providers do not encourage people to make sure their policy covers everything they own, which could lead to consumers losing out.
This is where the ABI online tool comes in handy, as it urges people to walk around each room of their house looking out for any bags or shoes that might otherwise be left out of the policy, pointed out Ben Tyte, business manager at Sainsbury's Home Insurance.
He said: "All of it comes under the definition of 'clothing' under your contents cover, so it really just helps to make sure they are not missing anything."
Mr Tyte also noted that not many insurance providers cover clothes within the overall content uninsured.
This can catch customers out if the default amount is too low, because they can find that possessions lying around the house could be worth a lot of money.
Recent research by Sainsbury's Home Insurance indicated that there are £573 million worth of possessions at student residences which are currently uninsured.
